Pink Paint

Wow. Where has the time gone. A few more weeks then it's our long summer break, and i am still busy redecorating the girls rooms. Well here is the hot pink dresser/desk. This was my first big painting project. Loved it and learned alot with this cute little piece. I used Plascon Cashmere, Fuschia Fizz and added my Friend from "prettier painted" homemade chalk paint and Whola!!! Easy to use chalk paint in any colour i like. Still want to give Annie Slaon a try, now that it's available in SA.
My Husband is a bit OCD, so still wanted to give the old dresser a quick sand.

We just oiled the top.

Thanks For Stopping by.

Bedroom Make-over

Well now, scrapbooking has taken a back seat, as i have a new found hobby. Thanks to my friend Belinda.
("Chalk Paint" Shall i say more.)
My first make-over was my girls bedroom, that i'll be sharing with you.
Where shall i start.
The wonderful vintage Merlin headboards I purchased from my friend Belinda at http://prettierpainted.com/
Oops.
Forgot to take a before photo. This before is from the prettier painted website.
Top left is the  before.
The After...
They were painted in dulux White
The tops were sanded and given a coat of wax. Oiling made the wood too dark.
Then to give it some old vintage charm, i distressed it.

I am still deciding what to put as the backing of the shelves. Mirror, Wall paper...
the choices are endless.
Till next time with a funky and fun hot pink desk.

Date night Valentine

The idea for this date night jar came from pintrest, and i made it with what i had in my craft room. I did this for our 10th Anniversary. All you need is a mason jar, some painted tongue depressors and off you go.You paint the tongue depressors in 3  or 4 colours, colour coding your dates to the cost of a date. From stay at home dates, to relativly inexpensive and expensive. Then i added blank ones for my nusband to choose himself. All the others i wrote things on we would like to do. This is a fun and exciting way for date night, as you dont know what you will be doing until you draw a stick. It's all right there in a jar. No excuses anymore.

Hope you all have a lovely Valentines Day.

Eco-friendly 2013

Well now. Let's see if i can keep up with my blog this year.
So let's talk laundry.
Friends of mine started making their own eco-friendly washing detergent as their children have excema. So today i did my first load with the "Laundry Lasses"
150ml of detergent and off we go. As simple as that. No powder or softner needed. My kind of one step washing. So if your children suffer from excema or you just want to "save the world one load at a time." Then the "Laundry Lasses" are for you.
Visit their website: www.laundrylasses.wordpress.com

Thanks Sam and Belinda for giving us the chance to use your wonderful detergent.

Computer Gremlins

Wow. Can't believe it's been a month since i posted. My computer needed a service and the internet crashed. While that was being sorted, we got the house ready for the coming Festive Season. I so love the Christmas Season. Christmas Tree's are up-Check. Mantle decorated-Check. Front door decorated-Check. This weekend our outdoor christmas tree and reindeer sliegh will go up:) I'm also busy getting the childrens holiday class projects finalised. Lots of fun crafting to be had by all. My friend Belinda from Prettier Painted is having a paint technique workshop on the 24th. So i have been thrift shopping for something that needs a make-over. This can only get messy. YEAH! Pop over to her site to see what lovely things she can create with a lick of paint. www.prettierpainted.co.za

Crafty Kids

The holiday has come and gone, and now we just have 8 more weeks of school until our long Summer vacation. The kids got some crafting done. It always amazes me how  you do a class with the same products and how different and unique everyones page looks. The girls just loved doing this canvas.

This was my sample for the girls.

And this is their wonderful creative handy work.
Well done girls.
Soon we'll be making Christmas crafts.

Well... I had all my papers out to scrap a page for a challenge and to add to my 2nd daughters very "thin" scrapbook album. But once again i got side tracked, with a 21st Birthday cake for a friends daughter, and making chalkboard party favours for a 1st birthday.

Get Well Card.

This morning i heard one of my friends has pneumonia. Still having my bits and pieces out from the card i made for a sketch challenge, i thought i'd make her a quick get well  card. I saw this simple, but striking card on twopeasinabucket "Finally Friday" video.
Definately making more of these for my stash.
Happy Scrapping and thank you for visiting.

Pintrest

Let's see if we can get the pin it button loaded to my posts.

Got Crafty.

Well. After yesterdays reflecting, and feeling sorry for myself. I decided to find a challenge and get crafty. This challenge is from twopeasinabucket. Saturday card sketch challenge. Here is the card sketch and card Kimber Mcgray made. This is so cheerful and summery.

Kimber's Card
Here's my take on the sketch. I have been wanting to put my sewing machine to paper, but never get around to it, but luckly this time my sewing machine was on the table and i added my first ever stitching to paper. I was expecting a disaster, but all turned out good. Excuse the inking of my tag. I had sewn it down and then realized i never inked it. I suppose it's the imperfections that make it unique. LOL!!!
Thanks for visiting, and Happy Scrapping!!!
Why don't YOU visit Saturday Card Sketch Challenge with Kimber 9.1.12 - Two Peas in a Bucket and be challenged to create.

Looking forward to getting Crafty again.

I really haven't got going on this blog. I should have known this year was going to be hectic, as we started renovations on our home. For those of you that have had renovations done i'm sure you'll know it is chaos no matter what you try. And BUILDERS?!??!!@ Well... lets leave it at that. After 7 months we are done. I thought the day would never come. So now i just need to do the interior of my craft room and hopefully i can get crafty on a regular basis. On top of the building my 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD, and the last 8 months we have been going from OT(occupational therapy) to Visual training to the pshycologist. Finally that has also all come to an end, and it seems we are returning back to normality. So suffice to say we are are ready for 2013 with a new school year and no builders. YAY!! There are so many talented people out there blogging that have inspired me to get going and share my love for crafts with you. So here's to getting crafty and inspired on this blog.

Bright and Cheery 40th.

I was so inspired by Amy of Living Locurto's 40th colours and decor, i just had to use the wonderful bright colours of orange, pink and purple. pop over to her pintrest boards. Making the very easy, but striking pom-poms. Loads of tutorials on youtube. My Martha Stewart scoreboard came in handy for the big rosettes.

Another Challenge

StampTV had a challenge on making your own designer paper background. I decided to try Gina's bleach technique. I loved it. Pretty cool effect. I will be trying other colour cardstock with this technique. Go on try it. Stamp your image, emboss it and colour in with bleach. you'll be amazed at the end result, and it's so easy. To help the bleach along use your heatgun.
Enjoy.

Inspirations

Well. I thought a new look blog would get me inspired to get blogging regularly. Let's see if it works. LOL!!! Here are two cards i made for the 2 release party challenges of stamptv.
1st one was the pink challenge. You had to stamp or colour something that was not usually pink. I went with the frog as i don't have alot of GinaK design stamps yet.
2nd was a masculine clean and simple card.
